April 4 celebrated in Sardasht

A group of women in Sardasht celebrated the 74th birthday of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan by planting tree seedlings.

Sardasht- A group of women celebrated the 74th birthday of the Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan by planting tree seedlings in Iran’s Sardasht city.

They celebrated his birthday to highlight the influence Abdullah Öcalan's philosophy had on the uprising “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi” and to demand the physical freedom of Abdullah Öcalan.

One of the activists, Suzan A. said the philosophy of Abdullah Öcalan has crossed borders.

She said: “Although Abdullah Öcalan has been held in Imrali for over two decades, his thoughts and ideology have spread across Kurdistan. The architect of the slogan “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi” chanted by people in Iran and Rojhilat to protest the killing of Jina Mahsa Amini is Abdullah Öcalan. This slogan is now chanted all over the world. The basis of the slogan 'Jin, Jiyan, Azadi' is the freedom of women and nature exploited by the patriarchal system. As a group of women, we planted tree seedlings on the birthday of leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan). We demand the physical freedom of leader Apo.”
