News Center-Labor activist Sharifeh Mohammadi was sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court in Rasht on charges of “armed rebellion against the state” on Thursday.

The Campaign for the Defense of Sharifeh Mohammadi called the court verdict against her “medieval and criminal” on its social media account.

Many believe that this ridiculous and baseless verdict was issued solely to create an atmosphere of fear and intimidation among activists in Gilan, the group said, calling for the acquittal and immediate and unconditional release of Sharifeh Mohammadi.

Sharifeh Mohammadi, mother of a 12-year-old child, was arrested by the security forces in the city of Rasht in December, accused of being a member of the Komala party.
