Öcalan: Ending Violence Against Women and Organizing Society Is an Urgent Priority.

Leader Abdullah Öcalan stressed rising societal violence—especially against women—reaffirming his total rejection of violence within families and clans, and urging collective responsibility to confront this dange

News Center“One of the main reasons behind the escalation of violence is the absence of social organization,” with these words, Leader Abdullah Öcalan called on society to build comprehensive organization extending to its smallest units, and to take an active role in confronting and resisting violence.

In a statement to Welat Agency, the İmralı Delegation of the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM) said that during his latest meeting, Leader Abdullah Öcalan focused on social issues, particularly the phenomenon of violence within society. The delegation noted that Öcalan follows social developments through the media and has observed an increase in tensions among individuals, families, and clans—something that deeply caught his attention.

The delegation added that Öcalan emphasized the worsening manifestations of violence in society under the state of emergency, particularly the sharp rise in violence against women, which has reached alarming levels. He expressed deep pain over this troubling reality.

During the meeting, Öcalan stressed that one of the issues he prioritizes most is the problem of violence in society:
“One reason I focus heavily on addressing these problems is my ability to search for practical solutions. After surpassing the first stage of the peace process and building a democratic society, these issues will come to the forefront. I pledge to work with the effort of ten ministries in a short period, and societal violence will be the first file I concentrate on. Legal, social, ethical, and cultural measures must be taken to confront this phenomenon.”

As part of immediate actions, Abdullah Öcalan addressed everyone, saying:
“I call on all who hear me to renounce weapons against one another and to adhere to moral conduct. No one should utter a word that harms or offends another. Problems must be resolved through reason and dialogue. I reject all forms of violence within families, among clans, and between communities and cities. I consider such behavior morally unacceptable.”

Öcalan called on all people of conscience to participate in confronting and resisting violence:
“Whoever wishes to shoulder responsibility must treat this issue as a moral duty and carry out their role with the highest level of commitment. I call upon patriots, friends, and comrades: I have previously affirmed that we will not allow casualties during this process, and we succeeded in that. Now we must put an end to this violence tearing our society apart. Violence is unacceptable, and one should not even utter a word that could harm another human being.”

Regarding political responsibility, Öcalan stressed the need for a strong struggle to confront this issue, noting that one of the primary causes of escalating violence is the absence of social organization:
“I have repeatedly warned that society needs comprehensive organization extending to its smallest units. This society cannot be neglected or left without a structured framework. The greatest form of democratic struggle lies in organizing the people.”

During the meeting, Öcalan highlighted the crucial role of the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party in political life and in organizing society:
“In the second phase of the process, I will give this issue significant attention. The Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party possesses great potential and must have confidence in itself. It is a party whose role cannot be bypassed, whether the People’s Alliance or the Nation Alliance comes to power. Therefore, society must organize itself and strengthen its self-confidence—its potential reaches nearly 20%.”

According to information shared by the DEM Party delegation, Öcalan placed strong emphasis in the recent meeting on the need to issue the Integration Law, calling on everyone, including democratic circles, to assume responsibility and make efforts
