İSİG: 730 workers died in the first 5 months of 2023

In Turkey, 730 workers, including 69 women and 11 children, died in the first five months of 2023, according to the report released by the Laborer Health and Occupational Safety Assembly (İSİG).

News Center- The Laborer Health and Occupational Safety Assembly (İSİG) has released its report giving information about how many workers died in the first five months of 2023 in Turkey. 730 workers, including 69 women and 11 children, died in the first five months of 2023, according to the report.

“This is the election campaign promise by the AKP/People's Alliance for ‘the Century of Turkey vision’ to be built with ‘stability and trust’. The governing situation in our country is the existence of a 'regime of work-related murders’. Many work-related murders in many places such as in Soma, Davutpaşa, Ostim, Torunlar, Isparta, Düzce, Ermenek, Esenyurt, Erzurum, Samsun, Güllük, Elbistan, Şırnak, Dursunbey, Hendek, 3rd Airport and Tuzla Shipyards, took place in this period,” the report said.

 

According to the report, at least 730 workers died in the first five months of 2023; 120 in January, 213 in February, 130 in March, 122 in April and 145 in May. The report also said that most of the workers, who lost their lives at their workplaces, were working in the sectors of construction, agriculture, mining, and transportation.
