4 women detained while protesting Turkey’s withdrawal from Istanbul Convention

Four women were taken into custody while protesting Turkey’s withdrawal from the Istanbul Convention in Izmir province.

Izmir- Members of the Socialist Women's Assemblies (SKM) and the Free Young Women Association (ÖGK) held an action in front of the Turkish Presidential Communications Directorate office in Izmir province to protest Turkey’s withdrawal from the Istanbul Convention. Women shouted the slogans such as, “We don’t keep silent”, “we are not afraid” and “we don’t obey,” and highlighted that they will not give up on the Istanbul Convention. As women were protesting, police attacked them and detained Gül Gök, Meryem Yıldırım, Güngör Didar Gül and İrem Nur Çelikbaş.
