30 journalists still detained in Iran over protests

At least 30 journalists, including nine women journalists, are still imprisoned in connection with the nationwide protests in Iran, the Association of Iranian Journalists said.

News Center- The Association of Iranian Journalists has issued a statement saying “Around 70 journalists have been detained” in Iran since the protests started following the killing of Jina Mahsa Amini in September. According to the statement, some journalists have been released on bail while 30 journalists, including nine women journalists, taken in for questioning are still detained.

“Since the start of the protests, a large number of journalists have also been summoned by the authorities. Our association works to follow up on the conditions of detained journalists to obtain more information about the situation of these journalists,” the association said in the statement.

The names of imprisoned women journalists are Farkhondeh Ashori, Nilufar Hamidi, Maral Darafarin, Malihe Darki, Mehrnoosh Tafian, Maryam Ghannad, Elahe Mohammadi, Vida Rabbani and Farzaneh Yahya-Abadi.
