24 arrested over earthquake social media posts

24 of the 129 people, who were detained on charges of creating fear and panic by “sharing provocative posts” about last week's earthquake on social media, have been sent to prison.

News Center-Turkey's General Directorate of Security released a written statement on social media posts about two deadly earthquakes that hit Turkey on February 6, 2023.

The General Directorate of Security said in the statement that it had identified 775 people accused of making provocative posts, and legal proceedings had been initiated against 441, “The chief prosecutor had ordered the arrest of 24 of the 129 detained people.”
