News Center- According to real-time data of the "Hunger Map" of the UN World Food Program (WFP), 866 million people do not have sufficient food consumption across 92 countries.

333 million people in 36 countries are suffering from actual malnutrition, according to the data of the map. WFP estimates this figure to be 533 million people in 56 countries.

12 countries with the highest prevalence of insufficient food consumption in order of severity are:

·         Afghanistan (37,4 million of the 40,4 million population)

·         Somalia (11,3 million out of 12,3 million people)

·         Niger (16,4 million out of 22,4 million)

·         Mali (11,5 million out of 19,1 million population)

·         South Sudan (6,3 million out of 11 million)

·         Mauritania (2,5 million of the 4,4 million population)

·         Timor-Leste (700 thousand out of 1,3 million)

·         Burkina Faso (10,9 million out of 19,8 million)

·         Syria (9,3 million out of 18 million)

·         Yemen (15.1 million out of 15,1 million)

·         Democratic Republic of Congo (48,8 million out of 105,9 million)

·         Lesotho (1 million out of 2,1 million)

Data about Turkey

According to the data about Turkey in the Hunger Map, the number of people with insufficient food consumption is 14,8 million in Turkey with a population of 82,3 million. 10,000 more people are suffering from malnutrition compared to three months ago, and 50,000 more are not consuming enough food compared to one month ago.

The data also shows that 1,7 percent of children under the age of five suffer from acute malnutrition and six percent from chronic malnutrition in the country. The city with the highest rate of malnutrition is Şırnak province with 20,25 percent.
