10 women detained in Turkey still held in custody
10 women, who were detained in Istanbul and Ankara for taking to the streets on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, are still held in custody.

Seven members of the Youth Committees were detained by police while attending the protest held in Sakarya Avenue upon the call of the Ankara Women’s Platform. They have been held in custody for more than 58 hours. According to the received reports, the women are held in custody for carrying Kurdish placards.
For hours, no information was received from the women after being detained. Then, the women were reported to be held in the Anti-Terror Department of Ankara Police Headquarters.
Foreign national women are threatened to be deported
Three women, who were detained while trying to participate in the night march in Istanbul’s Taksim Square to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on November 25, are still held in custody. Two women are reportedly from Azerbaijan and one is an Erasmus student from Italy. Being held in a detention center, the three women face deportation.
More than 200 women were detained
On November 25, women held the night march in Istanbul despite police barriers and attacks. Police attacked women and detained more than 200 women. In Ankara, women were also subjected to police violence while protesting violence against women. Many women were forcibly taken into custody. 23 women were taken into custody in Cizre district of Şırnak province. 10 of these women are being held in custody although more than 58 hours have passed.
