Woman killed and her child seriously injured in stabbing incident in Beersheba

A stabbing in Beersheba, southern Palestine's largest Negev city, killed a woman and seriously injured her son; police arrested her husband on suspicion of involvement in the crime.

News Center — Warnings issued by human rights and social institutions are increasing regarding the dangers of domestic violence, especially violence directed against women, as one of the most widespread forms of violations affecting family and societal stability. Women are the most vulnerable group to physical and psychological violence inside homes.

The city of Beersheba in southern Palestine witnessed a stabbing incident early this morning, Monday, April 20, resulting in the death of 40-year-old Merav Adri and the serious injury of her eight-year-old child inside the family home.

The National Rescue Organization and Emergency Medical Services reported that a complaint was received about an incident of violence in the city. Upon arrival of medical teams at the scene, the woman was found unconscious suffering from stab wounds, and she was pronounced dead at the location.

Paramedics described the scene as "shocking" and "extremely difficult," while the child received first aid before being urgently transferred to the hospital in an attempt to save his life.

For its part, the police announced that they arrested the victim's husband, 39 years old, on suspicion of involvement in the crime. They indicated that preliminary investigations began immediately after forces arrived at the scene. No confirmed information is yet available regarding any prior complaints related to domestic violence or arrests against the suspect.
