Conference of Yazidi Women’s Renaissance kicks off in Shengal
The Conference of Yazidi Women’s Renaissance organized by the Yazidi Free Women’s Movement (TAJÊ) has kicked off in Shengal on Thursday.

Shengal (Sinjar)- The Conference of Yazidi Women’s Renaissance has kicked off in Shengal with the participation of about 100 Yazidi and Arab women.
After a minute's silence for those who have lost their lives for freedom, the conference held by the Yazidi Free Women's Movement (Kurdish: Tevgera Azadiya Jinên Êzîdî-TAJÊ) started. Sûham Şengalî, member of the TAJÊ Diplomacy Committee, made the opening speech of the conference.
‘We will struggle for the physical freedom of leader Apo’
“Leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan) gave a great responsibility to Yazidi women,” Sûham Şengalî said. “We will struggle for the physical freedom of leader Apo because his freedom is our freedom.
‘We send our greetings to Imrali’
“We send our greeting from Shengal to Imrali on behalf of Yazidi women and the Yazidi community. Leader Apo encouraged the Yazidis to struggle for their homeland. He gave a great responsibility to Yazidi women for leading the new process. Yazidi women will lead the people of the Middle East by building the renaissance in Shengal.”
Three seminars will be held at the conference and women will discuss the history of Yazidi women, the influence of the patriarchal mindset on women and society, the situation of Yazidi women before and after the genocide, the displacement, how to build a peaceful and democratic society and the role of Yazidi women in building a democratic and peaceful society.
