Iranian climber Elnaz Rekabi becomes one of four climbing coaches participating in the third cohort of the “Wish” program.
News Center - Iranian climber Elnaz Rekabi becomes one of the four coaches participating in the third cohort of the Women in Sport High Performance Pathway (WISH) program created by the International Olympic Committee and Olympic Solidarity.
Beatrix Chong of Singapore, Stella Kerasidou of Greece, Meghan McDonald of the USA were also selected to take part in the program, aimed at increasing the number of female coaches at the Olympic Games.
Elnaz Rekabi is an Iranian sport climber. She has been competing in international climbing competitions since 2007, placing as high as second in the 2013 Asian Continental Championships in bouldering, first in the 2017 Wanxianshan, China Asia Cup.
She participated in the 2022 IFSC Climbing Asian Championships in Seoul, South Korea. She competed without wearing a headscarf. The event occurred during the ongoing Jina Mahsa Amini protests in Iran. But later, she was forced to say her headscarf had fallen off “inadvertently”.
