HDP MP Gergerlioğlu detained at Parliament this morning
Ankara-HDP Kocaeli MP Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu, who staged a “justice vigil” at Turkish Parliament after being stripped of his parliamentary seat, was detained this morning at the Parliament.
This morning, police entered the Turkish Parliament and detained Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Kocaeli MP Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu, who staged a “justice vigil” at the parliament after being stripped of his parliamentary seat. Police prevented him from performing wudhu before prayer at the bathroom and forcibly took him out from the parliament building. He was forcibly detained by police and the reason for his detention was told: he has been detained within the scope of a new investigation launched against him by the Public Prosecutor of Ankara.
Gergerlioğlu was taken to the police station. Other HDP MPs also went to the police station.
