News Center- Journalist Niloofar Hamedi, who first reported the killing of Jina Mahsa Amini on September 16, 2022 by Iran’s so-called morality police, and journalist Elaheh Mohammadi, who reported about the police attack at the funeral of Jina Mahsa Amini in Saqqez, stood trial again between July 25 and July 26 in Branch 15 of Tehran’s Islamic Revolutionary courts.

The first hearings on charges of “colluding against national security for hostile states,” were held between May 29 and May 30, 2023.

‘I have been trying to report what people go through’

Speaking during the hearing, journalist Elaheh Mohammadi denied all accusations against her and said, “I have been working as a journalist for 15 years. Since my journalistic career started, I have been trying to report what people have gone through. I can proudly say that I have never had any ties with foreign governments and that my loyalty is to my people since I see myself as their voice.”

Elaheh Mohammadi’s husband Saeed Parsaei wrote on his social media account that they expect a verdict in several days.

Since the protests sparked in Rojhilat and Iran, more than 100 journalists and 20,000 activists have been arrested in the country.
