Perpetrator of sexual abuse to stand trial on April 13

Man named Cahit Yakışıklı reportedly sexually abused a child with an intellectual disability in Amed last year. While jail sentence is demanded against Cahit Yakışıklı in the indictment prepared against him, he will stand trial on April 13.

Amed – Man named Cahit Yakışıklı (46) sexually abused a child with intellectual disability in the Kayapınar district of Amed (Turkish: Diyarbakır) last year. The child was forced into a car by Cahit Yakışıklı while the child went to a wedding with her family on October 15, 2021. After taking the child to an unknown place, he left the child a place near her house. The child was later taken to her family by those around her. The suspect, who was identified from the camera recordings based on the child's statements, was arrested three days after the incident and sent to prison.

An indictment was prepared

An indictment was prepared by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against Cahit Yakışıklı after the child’s family filed a complaint. A jail sentence is demanded against him in the indictment. Cahit Yakışıklı will stand trial on charges of “Sexually abusing a child” and “Deprivation of a child's liberty for sexual purposes”.

The suspect was identified from the camera recordings

The surveillance camera recordings showing how the man forced the child into the car are also included in the indictment, containing a medical report issued by the İnönü University in 2019 stating that the child is an intellectually disabled child. The surveillance camera recordings also show how the man left the child near her house. The car of the man and himself can be seen clearly in the surveillance camera recordings. After the child was taken to her family by those around her, the family filed a complaint against Cahit Yakışıklı.

After the complaint against him, Cahit Yakışıklı was arrested.

The first hearing of the trial will be held on April 13 by the Diyarbakır 9th High Criminal Court.
