Killer of Gülnur Kocabaş sentenced to life: “Now I can visit my daughter’s grave in peace”

Yusuf Akbulut has been sentenced to life for shooting Gülnur Kocabaş to death. “Now I can visit my daughter’s grave in peace,” Gülnur’s father Eyüp Kocabaş said.

Manisa – On May 28, 2020, Gülnur Kocabaş (22) was shot to death by Yusuf Akbulut (27) while she was going to work. Yusuf Akbulut was arrested for “intentional killing Gülnur Kocabaş”. An aggravated life imprisonment was demanded against him. The fifth hearing against him was held today by the Manisa 4th High Criminal Court.

The defendant's lawyer demanded a reduced sentence for “good behavior, unjust provocation”. The perpetrator Yusuf Akbulut claimed that he regretted it, and said, “I didn’t plan it”. The court sentenced Yusuf Akbulut to life.

“My daughter was killed, he should languish in jail”

Gülnur Kocabaş’ father Eyüp Kocabaş made a statement after the hearing and said, “The result is what we wanted. I can say that justice has been served. Now I can visit my daughter’s grave in peace. My daughter was killed, he should languish in jail.”
