Sine- Kako Sofla is one of the villagers around the city of Kermanshah. This year, the village received an award for its unique woven carpets and rugs. In the village, there is at least a loom in every house. Every woman living in the village knows how to weave carpets and rugs. However, all women complain that there is no place to sell their carpets and rugs. They say that selling carpets is more difficult than weaving them.
Buyers make low offers
Amina İzet is one of the women weaving carpets and rugs in the village. “Women weave carpets and rugs at home. I would be very happy to have a special place to weave and sell my products,” she told us.
Rojan is another woman weaving carpets and rugs at home. She told us that women in the village weave different patterned rugs and carpets. “I wove a 60cm carpet for about a month. However, I cannot sell the carpet at a good price. Unfortunately, we don't have a place to sell our carpets and rugs and to receive a recompense for our work. Buyers make low offers. They buy the products at a low price but sell them very expensive.”
She has woven carpets for 40 years
Kubra has woven carpets and rugs in the village for 40 years. She learned how to weave carpets from her mother. “I haven’t received an offer that makes me happy since I started weaving carpets. That’s why I don't want my children to do this job,” she said.
Although Kubra doesn’t want her children to weave carpets and rugs, her daughter is one of the women weaving carpets and rugs in the village.
