Women cook traditional Kurdish food

Nexşîn Namıq, the owner of Aleppo Bread and Dessert Shop, decided to expand her business after seven years. She has added traditional Kurdish food to her menu.

Aleppo- Aleppo Bread and Dessert Shop was opened in Aleppo seven years ago. Only Kurdish dishes are served in the shop. In a short time, the shop became popular in the city. The shop receives orders even from other cities. The shop provides employment opportunities for many women now. Nexşîn Namıq, the owner of the Aleppo Bread and Dessert Shop, spoke to NuJINHA about her shop.

Stating that they cook local bread and food in accordance with the order, Nexşîn Namiq said, “We opened the shop in the city. We cook local bread and food and deliver them to the customers in and outside the city. In the beginning, we only cooked hewremani and kade bread. Then, we began to make desserts. Now, we cook traditional Kurdish food in the shop.”

“30 women work in the shop”

Speaking about what kind of food they serve in the shop, Nexşin Namiq said, “We cook stuffed grape leaves, biryani, filefil, küp, and rice. We deliver the orders to the citizens. We provide employment opportunities for 30 women. On the seventh anniversary of our shop, we cooked food for Eneb Hospital. I call on women to believe in themselves and do what they like to earn a living.”
