Her march to freedom started in Maku

Viyan Peyman or Gülistan Tali Cinganlo was born in 1988, in the city of Maku, Eastern Kurdistan. The mountains and steep slopes surrounding the city teach to be strong and rebellious. Whenever the people of the city face attacks, they immediately take shelter in the mountains of Gilîdaxê, Tendürek and Ararat. Growing up at the foothills of these mountains, Viyan joined the Kurdish Freedom Movement in 2015.

Viyan Peyman combined her beauty with the mountains of Kurdistan. These mountains are the home of female fighters against injustice, oppression and occupation. The mountains of Kurdistan became the home of many female fighters such as Sara, Zilan and Beritan. Viyan always voiced her love for the mountains by singing songs.

“Komutanım”, a song dedicated to the legendary commanders Martyr Kurtay Faraşin and Martyr Adil Bilîka, and “Wey li Minê, Dewranê”, a song written for the Kobanê resistance, were two well-known songs sung by Viyan.
