Iranian-American musician and singer Rana Mansour dedicated her song/ anthem Zan (Women) to women in Iran, who are denied their basic human rights after releasing it.
Rana Mansour was born November 16, 1981 in Alexandria, Virginia. She attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, where she received her Bachelor's in Music with Honors. She released her debut album entitled Suite 16 in 1997 and her first Persian album in September 2015. Rana fuses elements of pop, jazz, rock, and other genres into her songs and artistic creations, elevating and challenging the standards of the Persian pop music scene. Rana Mansour is also one of the leading Persian female singers who are a devout activist for the women’s rights movement in Iran where women are banned from singing in public or as the main performer.
