Xezal makes her living from animal husbandry for 50 years

Xezal Mihemed Elî, who lives in the Qamishlo city of NE Syria, has been making her living from animal husbandry for 50 years. “I love my animals,” she said.

 Qamishlo – The Middle East is well known for its natural vegetation and its areas suitable for agriculture. Most Middle Eastern people make a living from agriculture and animal husbandry. Despite technological developments, the Middle Eastern people are still engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry because they know that the more they take care of their lands and animals, the more they will be rewarded with the same generosity. In the Middle East, the home of early civilizations, the people continue to be engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry to protect the heritage of their ancestors.

 She began to be engaged in animal husbandry when she was a child

Xezal Mihemed Elî, who lives in the Qamishlo city of North and East Syria, is one of the Middle Eastern people engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry. Making a living from animal husbandry for 50 years, Xezal Mihemed Elî said, “I have raised animals since my childhood. I began to be engaged in animal husbandry and agriculture when I was a child. Life becomes more sacred when you make efforts. For this reason, people should make a living by making efforts. When you make a living by working hard, you appreciate what you earn; life becomes more beautiful. Before, labor and love were the basis of life; however, today people think how to make money hand over fist. People want to have everything without working.”

‘If you love animals, they will give you more products’

Speaking about how she makes a living, Xezal Mihemed Elî said, “We have chickens, turkeys, sheep and cows. We make a living with their products. Being engaged in animal husbandry is nice in summer; however, it is very difficult in winter. If you love animals, they will give you more products. Nowadays, we make yogurt, cheese and butter. These products are natural and healthy products. These products can be consumed in every season.”
