Maysa Al-Ali: Displaced people require medical care and basic essentials
Maysa Al-Ali, a member of the IDPs' Affairs Committee in the Sere-Kaniye camp, NE Syria, said that as summer approaches, the conditions of displaced people in the camp are deteriorating. “Humanitarian organizations should fulfill their responsibilities.”
RONÎDA HACÎ
Hasakah- Since the occupying Turkish state and its mercenaries launched their attacks on Serêkaniyê / Ras al-Ain and Girê Spî / Tal Abyad, hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced to other regions of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria.
To resettle the refugees, the Autonomous Administration in northeastern Syria established the Washokani and Sere-Kaniye camps in Hasakah. Both camps now shelter roughly 8000 displaced people. The displaced are in a difficult situation, and the Autonomous Administration is doing all possible to help them while international humanitarian organizations are deafeningly quiet.
"Humanitarian organizations’ recklessness jeopardizes the displaced people’s situation"
Maysa Al-Ali, a member of the IDPs' Affairs Committee in the Sere-Kaniye camp, stated, "There are thousands of women, children, and the elderly in the Serekaniye camp. Three years have passed since the occupation of Serekaniye, and the displaced continue to live in deplorable conditions, yet humanitarian groups remain silent. People, including women, are affected by the high temperatures in the summer.
For the last three years, the displaced have struggled to live in tough conditions, and no humanitarian organization has done anything except act according to their best interests. Food, water, and medicines are needed for the displaced individuals at this camp. Medicines are very expensive, and the displaced people cannot afford to buy them, they are unable to do so. Diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and gynecological disorders are also prevalent in the camp, particularly among young people. It is important noting that the AANE Syria makes every effort to assist them. We call on human rights organizations to take action and provide aid to these displaced people."
"The occupier's settlements project is an inhuman crime”
“Erdogan announced on May 4 that his administration is ready to start a project to build settlements in northeastern Syria; we condemn this project and consider it an inhumane crime. This project aims to reestablish Ottoman rule and change the demographics of the region. I urge all the displaced people Serêkaniyê to unite and strengthen their struggle against this project, so that our city can be liberated from occupiers. The presence of the Turkish occupation on our lands is deepening the Syrian crisis even more, " said Maysa Al-Ali.
“The Turkish government must be held accountable.”
Maysa Al-Ali ended her speech by saying, "Since the beginning of the revolution, the Turkish state has openly committed massacres and crimes against the people. All countries have kept silent against genocidal attacks. We want the land of our ancestors, and we call on the human rights organizations to hold the Turkish government accountable for its actions.”
