Yemen – Aisha Mohsen Al-Khaili, the first chairwoman of the Yemeni Women's Union, died in Sheffield, England yesterday after receiving treatment for renal failure for a long time. Aisha Mohsen Al-Khaili, also known as Aisha Mohsen, was born and raised in the city of Aden in southern Yemen. She joined the revolution that took place on October 14, 1963, when the people of South Yemen launched a rebellion against the British occupation, and by November 30, 1967, South Yemen was free of British rule. She was the first chairwoman of the Yemeni Women’s Union, a non-governmental organization established in the 1960s.
Amna Mohsen, a co-founder of the union, spoke to our news agency about the death of Aisha Mohsen. “With great sadness, I received the news of the death of the first chairwoman of our union. She worked to empower women and girls throughout her life. She was a great fighter and friend.”
