Mona Kabak, member of the Education Committee of the Kongra Star, told us that they faced some obstacles during the education course because some men did not know anything about women’s history and women’s struggle for freedom. “At the beginning, we faced some obstacles because men did not accept women’s issues. But in time, we overcome these obstacles,” she said.

‘The education course changes our thoughts’

Muhammed Ali is one of the men who attended the course. “We learned many things about women’s history, society, religion and slavery. The education course was informative for me. We learned that women have been struggling for equality for thousands of years. Not only women but also men should know women’s history to achieve equality,” he told NuJINHA.

‘Men should be educated’

Asaad Aref, Co-mayor of the Ashrafiyeh Municipality, is another man who attended the education course. Speaking about the course, he said, “The education course was an important opportunity for us to learn the reality of women and the patriarchal mentality aiming to destroy women identity.
