Starfish fossil discovered in Amed

A starfish fossil has been discovered in the ruins of a 1500-year-old church in archaeological excavations in Amed.

News Center- The archaeological excavations for the ruins of a 1500-year-old church in the İnkaya neighborhood of Kulp, a district of Amed (Diyarbakır), continue.

 The excavations initiated by the Diyarbakır Museum Directorate in 2021 continue with the participation of 40 people, including 15 experts. 46 graves, coins, lamps, columns and bases were uncovered in the ruins of the church last year.

Since June 28, 2024, nine more graves, parts of an amphora and a five-armed starfish fossil have been discovered in the archaeological excavations. The excavations will reportedly last until the end of 2024.
