Second album of Kurdish singer Hêja released
Kurdish singer Hêja has released her second album entitled, “Pistepistek Bilind” on all social media platforms.
News Center- Kurdish singer Hêja has released her second studio album entitled, “Pistepistek Bilind” on all social media platforms. Using mostly rock pop genre in her album, Hêja includes jazz rhythms in her song called “Masiyê Bicûk”. The singer also uses contemporary Kurdish poems in the album and reflects the spirit of Yerevan songs in her song called, “Hale me”.
The singer composed the poems of Kurdish contemporary poets Roşeng Rojbîr, Gulîzer, Şokrî Şahbaz and Şêrko Bêkes. The lyrics of her three songs in the album are written by Hêja. The album has been funded by Initiative Musik, the federal government's funding agency that supports the music industry for rock, pop, and jazz in Germany and it has been released by the Red Music Digitala in Hamburg.
Who is Hêja?
She studied English literature at Boğaziçi University in Istanbul. She was a member of the folklore club at Boğaziçi University for three years. During that time, she researched Kurdish folk music and singers and started collecting old Kurdish songs and stories. She won a place as a Fulbright scholar on the Master’s program in Comparative Literature at Columbia University, but was unable to use her scholarship because she was arrested in Turkey. She learnt how to play guitar and started composing music in prison. Now, she lives in exile in Germany. Her first album entitled “Stranên Neşuştî” was released in 2020
