Qamishlo - The 6th Osman Sabrî Literature Festival, annually organized by the Jazira Region Culture Committee and the Northern and Eastern Syria Literature Committee, has kicked off at the Mihemed Şêxo Culture and Art Center in Qamishlo today with the participation of many writers and readers across North and East Syria and the representatives of non-governmental organizations in Qamishlo and the Democratic Autonomous Administration in Cizre Region.

Signed story books were given to the participants

After the opening speech, a video about the life of Osman Sabrî was screened. Then, writer Salam Hisê read her Kurdish storybook entitled "Tabûta vala" and writer Ciwan Selo read her Arabic storybook entitled, “Istîxasat fecir qetîl”. Both writers signed their storybooks and gave them to the participants.
 Nerîman Evdikê, a member of the festival organizing committee, told NuJINHA that they managed to organize the festival despite the conditions of war. “The festival will last three days. Due to the current conditions, we could only organize this year’s festival for three days. Despite all challenges, we organized the festival in a short time. Every year, we focus on different genders. This year, we focus on novels,” she said.
 “A good opportunity for women writers”

Stating that the festival attracts a huge number of women writers, Nerîman Evdikê said, “The festival is a good opportunity for women writers and young writers to promote their novels. After this festival, our relations with writers and poets will become stronger.”
