Helale: First women’s magazine in Iran, Eastern Kurdistan
First women’s magazine in Iran and Eastern Kurdistan “Helale”, which means reverse tulip, was published in 1946.
News Center - April 22 is the Kurdish Journalists’ Day. The Helale magazine has an important place in the history of the Kurdish press. Mina Qazi was one of the founders of the Republic of Mahabad founded in Mahabad in 1946 and she wrote her name in history with her works for women’s rights, participation in social life, and education. She is also an important person for the Kurdish press because she also led the first women’s magazine named “Helale Magazine” to be published in Iran and Rojhelat Kurdistan. Helale means reverse tulip in English.

The first issue of the Helale Magazine was published in February 1946 in Bokan. The magazine published only four issues but it is important because it was the first women’s magazine in Iran and Eastern Kurdistan.
