25-year-old Mudan İbrahim, lives in Qamishlo, is an artist who combines painting with embroidery to create unique works of art. We visited this young artist to know more about embroidery and her art.

“A profession allowing me to be creative”

Mudan İbrahim has been interested in painting and drawing since her childhood. In recent years, she feels she should be more creative in her art, “Actually, embroidery is not only a craft for me but also a profession allowing me to be creative,” Mudan İbrahim told us.

Mudan İbrahim loves sewing, embroidery, and knitting, “I watched a video about embroidery on the internet and wanted to try it. I have had a talent for painting and drawing since my childhood. I always wanted to be more creative and the video encouraged me to be.”

She cannot find materials

Mudan İbrahim continues to produce with great enthusiasm but she has difficulty in finding materials due to the embargo imposed on the region she lives in. I often have difficulties in finding the necessary materials for the art of embroidery. Sometimes, I have difficulties in finding colorful threads and yarns. I find these materials in other countries but it is difficult to import them.”

She wants to teach this art

Mudan İbrahim wants to teach this art to all women who want to learn. She likes embroidering women's figures, “I can teach this art to all women with pleasure. I work hard these days because I want to hold an exhibition.”
