Bokra Tounsi’s “She” among short films to be screened at Cannes

“She”, a short film directed by Bokra Tounsi will be screened at Cannes Film Festival. The seven-minute short film tells the story of a woman.

Algeria –Directed by Algerian director Bokra Tounsi, “Hiye” “English: She” is a short film about violence against women that occurs in both public and private spheres of life. The film is among short films to be screened at Cannes Film Festival.
We talked to Bokra Tounsi about her short film. “I tried to show how women face violence and suffer from it through this film,” said Bokra Tounsi while talking about her short film.
Bokra explained why she named the film “She” as follows; “Because it is a name that summarizes the suffering of all women. Hiye (She) is the story of the suffering of women all over the world. Algerian women can tell what kind of violence they have faced and how they have suffered through films.”
The seven-minute short film was shot and edited in a week. Bokra stated that a group of young people living in Tebessa city of Algeria supported her to shoot the film. Hiye (She) is the fourth short film directed by Bokra Tounsi. Bokra said that she will work on women’s stories in the future.
