5th Ronahi Bawer Folk Dance Festival starts in Hasekê. 16 folk dance groups will perform Turkmen, Arab, Kurdish, Syriac, and Circassian folk dances during the three-day festival.
Hasekê –Ronahi Bawer Folk Dance Festival, organized for the 5th time with the slogan “Every govend (folk dance) is a story, every story is a history", kicked off in Hasekê yesterday. 16 folk dance groups will perform Turkmen, Arab, Kurdish, Syriac, and Circassian folk dances during the three-day festival.
The festival kicked off after a march started in front of the Habur Culture and Art Center with the participation of 16 folk dance groups and many citizens. After the march with drums, slogans, and banners, the mass went to the Serdem Culture and Art Center. After a moment of silence to remember those who lost their lives during the revolution in Rojava, the citizens and folk dance groups watched the videos about folklore and folk dances, and Ronahi Bawer, a professional folk dance teacher from Afrin who lost her life in 2018. Ronahi Bawer’s mother Emina Hisen made a speech during the opening ceremony of the festival. “I see Ronahi when I look at each of you, I’m proud of you,” she said in her speech.
