She began to paint when she was 10 years old

“Before we were forcibly displaced from Afrin, our life was so beautiful, yes I am young but I love my homeland and I miss and want to return to my homeland. I belong to my homeland and want to return. Occupying forces forced us to leave and now we live in Aleppo. I began to paint and take photos when I was 10 years old,” Fatima Oso told us.

“I drew my first painting in Afrin”

Talking about her life in Afrin, Fatima Oso said, “I drew my first painting in Afrin. Knowing that encourages me to be more productive. I had registered at the Afrin Culture and Art Center in order to improve my art. I learned how to improve myself in this field there. When the war broke out and our homeland was invaded, I couldn’t draw anything for a while. I have completed level five in painting. Now, I am drawing with charcoal. I draw the nature, buildings of Afrin. I believe my paintings should reflect my struggle.”

“I believe that I will make all my dreams come true through my paintings”

Fatima Oso has hope and a good feeling for the future, “One of my biggest wishes is the liberation of Afrin because children and women of Afrin depend on their land. I want to return to Afrin and be productive there. I want to draw Afrin there, not far away from it. I believe that I will make all my dreams come true through my paintings.”
