Indictment against journalists prepared

The indictment against 19 people, including Dicle Fırat Journalists’ Association Co-chair Dicle Müftüoğlu and MA editor Sedat Yılmaz has been prepared.

News Center- After the investigation launched against 19 people, five of them have been held in prison pending the trial, was completed, the indictment against 19 people, including including Dicle Fırat Journalists’ Association Co-chair Dicle Müftüoğlu and Mesopotamia Agency (MA) editor Sedat Yılmaz, has been prepared and sent to the Ankara 28th High Criminal Court by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The court is expected to accept or reject the indictment in five days.

19 people, including journalists Dicle Müftüoğlu and Sedat Yılmaz were arrested in the house raids conducted in 15 cities on April 29 as part of an investigation launched by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. After four days in detention, they were referred to the Ankara Courthouse. Dicle Müftüoğlu ve Sedat Yılmaz ile Erol Balcı, Abdurrahim Tanyeli and Ramazan Debe were sent to prison on May 3, World Press Freedom Day, on charges of “membership in a terrorist organization”.
