Women’s Delegation of North and East Syria in Switzerland
The Rojava Women’s Delegation met with parliamentarians and civil society organizations in Switzerland.

News Center – After its meetings in Germany, the Women’s Delegation of North and East Syria (Rojava) moved on to Switzerland. The delegation consists of Co-Chair of the North and East Syria Women’s Council Emîne Omer, Spokesperson of the Syrian Women’s Council Muna El Yusif, Spokesperson of the Zenûbiya Women’s Community Şehrezad El Casim, Kongra Star member Jiyan Hisên, and Syriac Women’s Union executive Jorjêt Bersûm.
The delegation first met with Fabian Molina, SP (Socialist Party) parliamentarian and member of the Foreign Relations Committee, in the Swiss Federal Assembly. In the meeting, the delegation conveyed the latest developments in Syria and emphasized that the rights of women and minorities must be guaranteed. Molina, in turn, highlighted Rojava’s democratic model and said that the international community must take responsibility.
The delegation then met with Carlo Sommaruga, SP parliamentarian and member of the Kurdish Friendship Group. In the meeting, they stated that after 14 years of war, hope has arisen for democracy, equality, and federal structures, but that the risk of repression and instability continues.
Sommaruga recalled the decision adopted by the Swiss Federal Assembly on February 22, 2025, to support and recognize the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, and reiterated Switzerland’s solidarity.
They met with civil society organizations
After the parliamentary meetings, the delegation met with women’s organizations, climate activists, and various social movements at the Haus der Bewegung (House of Movement) in Bern. The gathering, which drew great interest from Swiss activists, was marked by messages of solidarity.
The delegation finally participated in a public meeting organized at the Bern Kurdish Community Center, where they also conveyed the current situation in Syria and the struggle of women.
Contacts will continue
The Rojava Women’s Delegation will continue its meetings in Switzerland, coming together with parliamentarians, civil society organizations, and the public in Lausanne, Zurich, Aarau, and St. Gallen. The delegation will also participate as speakers in a panel to be held in Lausanne.
