Hasakah- The Turkish forces fired howitzers on Eyn El Ebid village of Hasakah Canton’s Tell Tamer town, northeastern Syria on April 24, 2023 at 6 pm. The attack killed three children and injured two children. NuJINHA spoke to some women of Tell Tamer about the attack and the manager of the Jiyan Hospital, where injured children receive treatment.

 Injured children stay in the intensive care unit

Offering his condolences to the families of the killed children, Doctor Îsmayîl Osman said, “We operated on two injured children and they are currently under control at the hospital. When 14-year-old Zehra was brought to the hospital, her liver was severely damaged and there were many wounds on her body and several of her fingers were broken. Zehra is still in critical condition so she will stay in the intensive care unit for 48 or 72 hours.”

‘The Turkish state is responsible for crimes against our people’

Selma Berekat, a resident of Tell Tamer, condemned the ongoing Turkish attacks and said, “What does Erdoğan want from civilians, women and children? Enough, how long will the Turkish state build its existence by attacking us? They do not have the right to kill our children in our homeland. Our children are killed by the howitzers and warplanes of the invaders. Our children are deprived of education. Why are the Turkish state, its soldiers and its factions here? The Turkish state is responsible for crimes against our people. We will not leave our homeland no matter what Erdoğan does. We will live and die here.”

‘Stop collaborating with the enemy’

Xedîcê Asim, another woman living in Tell Tamer, condemned the silence of the international community against the attacks. “Enough! Women and children are killed here. Does not the international community see this? Why does the international community keep silent? Russia and the USA claim that they are the guarantor states; however, they keep silent against such attacks. I call on the international community and the guarantor states to stop collaborating with the enemy.”

Speaking about the upcoming elections in Türkiye, Xedîcê Asim said, “Erdoğan attacks us because he does not know what will happen after the elections. The guarantor states must now play their role in supporting the people demanding democracy and freedom. Three children were killed here, where are the international human rights organizations? Where are international organizations such as UNICEF claiming that they protect children? Everyone keeps silent when children are killed in our country.”
