Women of Kobanê march to protest killing of Mahsa Amini

Young women held a march in Kobanê to protest the killing of Mahsa Amini by the Iranian morality police. During the march, they expressed their solidarity with the resisting women in Iran and Rojhelat.

Kobanê- Women all around the world hold protests, marches and release statements to condemn the killing of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini after being detained in Tehran by Iranian morality police. Some women cut their hair in protest against Iranian compulsory hijab.

Last evening, young women held a march in Kobanê to protest the killing of Mahsa Amini. During the march they expressed their solidarity with the resisting women in Iran and Rojhelat (Western Kurdistan).

Many young women participated in the march held by the Euphrates Region Young Women's Union with the motto, “Protect life and women against femicide”. The march started at the Agit Square and women chanted the “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi (English: Women, Life, Freedom)” slogan. Young women observed a minute’ silence in memory of Mahsa Amini and all women, who were killed. Ciwan Temî made a speech on behalf of the Euphrates Region Young Women’s Union. In her speech, she offered her condolences to the family of Mahsa Amini and the families of those who were killed in the protests across Iran.

“We will struggle and protect each other”

NuJINHA spoke to several women participating in the march.

“We will bring the killers of women to account with our organized power. We will never remain silent against the male-dominant system killing women,” said Dicle Hesen, one of the young women participating in the march.

“We gathered here to protest the killing of Mahsa Amini. This incident actually reminds us once again of the sufferings experienced by Iranian women. We, as Kurdish women, will bring those who killed Mahsa Amini to account. The Iranian regime targets women. All the dirty policies carried out against women will be frustrated by women’s organized will. The attack on Mahsa Amini is the attack against all women. We will struggle and protect each other,” said Rojîn Mislim, another young woman participating in the march.
