Women of Hasakah call for closure of region’s airspace to Turkey
Evaluating the Turkish attacks in North and East Syria, the women of Hasakah called for the closure of the region’s airspace to Turkey. “The revolution built by the blood of our children will never fail,” they said.
Hasakah- Intensifying its attacks in North and East Syria, the Turkish state targets civilians, including women and children, in its attacks. The people of the region cannot lead a safe life due to the ongoing attacks and say that the Turkish state commits a crime in the region. NuJINHA spoke to the women of Hasakah about the ongoing Turkish attacks in their region.
“The Democratic Nation project is targeted”
One of the women of Hasakah, Sebah Hiso said that the Turkish state has carried out genocidal policies against the people by targeting pioneering women and female commanders. “Opening the airspace to the Turkish state is a crime against humanity, because the Turkish state kills our children by using its jets and drones. We do not attack anyone; all we want is our autonomy. Our children rule our region. Without them, ISIS would have committed massacres across the region. Most of those who were targeted by the Turkish state were the leading people. All people living in the region have been targeted by the Turkish state. All states remain silent against the attacks of the Turkish state and their silence shows that they are against the Democratic Nation project. This project is targeted in the attacks.”
“They cannot break the will of women”
Pointing out that the pioneering women are particularly targeted in the attacks, Sebah Hiso said, “They are targeted because they led the Revolution in Rojava and become a role model for women all around the world. But they cannot break the will of women by targeting them. No one will be able to occupy this region liberated by the blood of our children. As long as women exist, they will not be able to occupy our land. Our land is our honor and we will protect our land to the end.”
“We are against this silence”
Bera Salih, another woman of Hasakah, told us that the Turkish state has targeted civilians in its attacks. “All human rights organizations oppose the targeting of civilians in war; however, they remain silent while civilians are targeted in North and East Syria. We are against this silence. All human rights organizations must fulfill their duties and speak out against the ongoing attacks of the Turkish state. Our people should protect their neighborhoods and support their security forces. If we show solidarity with each other, we can defeat the enemy.”
“Our society is targeted in the person of women”
Heyfa Mihemed’s daughter Delîl Cûdî was killed in a Turkish attack. “Our revolution has been recognized thanks to women. Targeting pioneering women and female commanders means targeting our society,” Heyfa Mihemed said, “The aim of the attacks is to block the development of our society. This policy is not a new policy; the Ottoman Empire targeted administrators and scholars at the first stage of the Armenian genocide in order to break the will of Armenians. This policy is carried out today by the Turkish state. The Turkish state aims to fail our revolution. But the revolution led by women and built by the blood of our children will never fail. As mothers of martyrs, we ask everyone to help the security forces and hand over the Turkish spies to them. Human rights organizations should close the region’s airspace to the Turkish state because the Turkish state targets innocent civilians in its attacks.”
