“Women of Deir ez-Zor should protect their gains’
The women of Kobanê call on the women of Deir ez-Zor to protect their gains they have achieved through years of resistance against the ongoing attacks on the system based on democracy in North and East Syria.
NORŞÎN ABDİ
Kobanê –Attempts to destroy the system built by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) with the participation of people from all nationalities and beliefs in North and East Syria continue. On September 2, the Syrian government, Iran and the Turkish state had a deal to prevent this system. Their aim was to achieve their goal by increasing tension between the tribes and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Deir ez-Zor.
‘Their aim is to destroy the system in North and East Syria’
NuJINHA spoke to the women of Kobanê about the recent developments in Deir ez-Zor. Loujain Al-Salem, coordinating member of the Kongra Star in the Kobanê Canton located in the Euphrates Region of North and East Syria, condemned the ongoing attacks on the system of North and East Syria. “What is happening in Deir ez-Zor aims to destroy the system based on democracy and unity of people from all nationalities and beliefs in North and East Syria. They aim to destroy the system by increasing tension among people. Despite all their efforts, they will not achieve their goal in our region,” Loujain Al-Salem said.
‘Women should protect their gains’
Calling on the tribes not to be deceived, Lucain Al-Salem said, “In order to eliminate the terrorism in which women are killed, kidnapped and raped, the tribes of the Deir ez-Zor region should protect and defend the region.” In her speech, Lucain Al-Salem emphasized that the conflicts would bring nothing but destruction.
“During the rule of the Syrian government, the women of Deir ez-Zor were completely excluded from society; they had no status in society and faced the atrocity of ISIS. They were subjected to violence, torture and injustice. Today, women have become strong politicians, warriors, teachers, journalists and the pillars of society under the umbrella of the Autonomous Administration. Therefore, they should protect their gains they have achieved through years of resistance.”
‘Women have important role in the continuation of this system’
Mona Ahmed, member of the Kongra Star in Sirin, told us that many sovereign countries see the democratic system in North and East Syria as a threat to them. Pointing to the important role of women in the continuation of the system, she said:
“We should unite and resist. We should protect our system built by the efforts and sacrifices of our people. The Turkish state has repeatedly tried to annihilate the people in the region by cutting off the water, using drones, warplanes and launching operations; however, it has failed and it will fail. Today, it tries to sow discord among us but it will not achieve its goals again.”
‘People should unite’
Nahla Hassan, a woman from Kobanê, thinks there is an attempt to increase tension between Arabs and Kurds in Deir ez-Zor through the tribes in the region. “They want to destroy our system by disregarding the will of the people. But they will not be able to do this.” Emphasizing that people live together in peace under the umbrella of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, she said, “All people of North and East Syria should unite to prevent such attempts. The enemies of this system previously tried to destroy this system but they failed. We call on women and young people of North and East Syria to unite in order to protect the gains of the revolution.”
