Women in Libya: Struggle is the only way to achieve victory and freedom
Women activists and journalists in Libya stress that struggle is the only way to overcome challenges and achieve victory and freedom.

Benghazi- International Women’s Day annually observed on March 8 is a day for women to celebrate their achievements and voice their demands. In Libya, women held various activities and events to celebrate their day despite the challenges faced by them.
NuJINHA spoke to women activists and journalists in Libya about International Women’s Day.
‘Women’s political participation must be empowered in Libya’
“Women must participate in decision-making positions to play their active role in society,” said journalist Fatima al-Majbri. “Women’s political participation must be empowered in Libya. The challenges faced by us encourage us to focus on politics, economy, social and media aspects more.”
‘We have achieved many successes’
Amira Ali, an activist and women’s rights defender in Libya, thinks that women in Libya have achieved many successes in economy, politics and social life despite the obstacles and challenges faced by them. “Empowering and supporting women in Libya will ensure their rights, strengthen them to break gender stereotypes. Struggle is the only way to overcome challenges and achieve victory and freedom,” she told us. “On International Women’s Day, I wish for freedom and stability for women all over the world.”
