Women discuss their roles in Syria at forum held by Syrian Women’s Council
More than 80 women from different cities of Syria participated in a “dialogue forum” held by the Syrian Women’s Council to discuss the problems faced by them and their roles in the future of the country.

Tabqa- The Syrian Women’s Council held a dialogue forum in the Tabqa Canton of North and East Syria to discuss the problems faced by Syrian women and their roles in the future of the country, with the participation of more than 80 women from different cities of Syria, the members of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES), the Zenûbiya Women’s Community and the representatives of political parties.
The forum was held at the Şems Cafeteria, with the motto, “Syrian women are a renaissance project for the construction of a peaceful Syria”. The women discussed the “Political and social obstacles faced by Syrian women” and the “Methods to preserve cultural richness in Syria’.
At the forum, Suhêr Senûh, Spokesperson of the Syrian Women’s Council, and Alîf Şêx Mihemed, a judge at the Social Justice Council in the Raqqa Canton, made speeches about the problems and obstacles faced by Syrian women and their roles in drafting the constitution and building a new Syria.
Researcher Rinde El Icêlî and Nowroz Muslim, Co-chair of the Women's Council of the DAANES made speeches about the methods to preserve cultural richness in Syria. “Syria is a country, where people from different ethnic and religious identities live together,” said Nowroz Muslim. “Cultural richness in Syria must be preserved and the political participation of different identities in building the future of the country must be ensured.”
At the forum, the participants shared their opinions regarding the methods of protecting their rights and building a safe and equal life in Syria.
The forum ended after Medya Mudewar, director of the Press Committee of the Syrian Women's Council, read a final declaration.
In the final declaration, women demand:
· A national women's congress should be held with the participation of all Syrian women.
· Contact must be made with women arrested during the rule of the Baathist regime.
· The gains of the women’s revolution in North and East Syria must be transferred to all cities of Syria.
· Women’s participation in the transitional phase must be guaranteed.
· The Cultural richness in Syria must be preserved.
· Women’s participation in drafting the new constitution of Syria must be ensured.
· Women must be represented in all facets of life.
·Those who commit war crimes in Syria must be held accountable and murderers of women must not exist in the new Syria.
