Women arrested for demanding peace acquitted

100 people, including 95 women, who were detained on September 1, 2013 for demanding peace in Istanbul’s Kadıköy, have been acquitted of all charges.

News Center- 100 people, including 95 women, were forcibly detained by police during a rally held by the Istanbul Labor, Peace and Democracy forces at Iskele Square of Istanbul’s Kadıköy district on September 1, 2023 to mark the World Peace Day, annually observed on September 1 by many countries, with the motto, “War makes you lose, peace makes you win”.

The final hearing in the trial against 100 people on charges of “opposing the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations” was held Wednesday by the Istanbul 17th Criminal Court of First Instance. 100 people have been acquitted of “opposing the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations” by the court.
