The local sources also reported that the woman was an employee of a hospital in Afghanistan’s Badakhshan Province and she was raped at the hospital by the head of the hospital, the brother-in-law of Maulvi Amanuddin.

She was raped under anesthesia

 “The father of Shukrieh was a commander and he was killed by the Taliban. She was the only breadwinner of her family of 9. She was raped under anesthesia. After she regained consciousness, she understood she had been raped and then she killed herself,” said one of the local sources.

Families are afraid of being labelled
