Hasakah- Founded in 2012 in North and East Syria’s Hasakah city, the Yazidi House makes efforts to rescue all Yazidi women and children held captive by ISIS. NuJINHA spoke to Nalin Raşo, member of the Yazidi House about their activities.

‘We have worked to rescue Yazidi women and children’

“The Yazidi House was established in 2012 to unite all Yazidis and solve problems faced by Yazidis,” Nalin Reşo said, “On August 3, 2014, ISIS attacked Shengal, killing, displacing and abducting thousands of civilians. The crimes committed by ISIS against the Yazidi community are recognized as a genocide by many countries. Since 2014, the Yazidi House has worked to rescue Yazidi women and children held captive by ISIS. By working in coordination with the people of Shengal, we try to identify and rescue all abducted women and children.”

 The house provides psychological and moral support

Talking about thousands of Yazidi women and children in al-Hol camp, Nalin Raşo said, “Yazidi women in the camp receive death threats. They remain silent because they are afraid of ISIS women in the camp. Some are afraid for their children; some have been subjected to violence. The women, who were rescued in the camp, suffer from psychological problems. The rescued Yazidi women tell us the atrocity of ISIS. We aim to reintegrate them into the Yazidi community by providing psychological and moral support to them.”

 ‘We aim to rescue all Yazidi women and children held captive by ISIS’

In her speech, Nalin Reşo emphasized that they would not stop until we rescued all Yazidi women held captive by ISIS. “We look for abducted Yazidi women and children in al-Hol camp and other regions by working coordinately with our local sources. Recently, a Yazidi woman was rescued from the captivity of ISIS in the city of Idlib, occupied by the Turkish state. There are many Yazidi women, who are sold in slave markets in the region occupied by the Turkish state and Turkish-backed factions. We do our best to reach them.”

Emphasizing that the Yazidi women will continue to fight all forms of violence and oppression, Nalin Reşo said, “We aim to find and rescue all Yazidi women. We aim to unite all Yazidis living in different countries. The Yazidi people should return to their homeland so that we can prevent another genocide from committed against us.”
