Sulaymaniyah- Since October 5, the Turkish state has been intensifying its attacks on North and East Syria. On October 7, Turkish drones targeted a mosque in the Martyr Rustem Cudi Camp (Makhmour Refugee Camp), injuring a woman and two children. Dozens of houses around the mosque were damaged in the drone attacks. Since October 5, the Turkish state has targeted power plants, oil refineries, water systems and IDPs camps in North and East Syria by using warplanes and artillery shells. Many have been killed and injured in the attacks.
‘Countries remain silent for their own interests’
Pointing to the ongoing Turkish attacks on the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and North and East Syria, Cihan Salih, Secretary of Women's Affairs of the Green Party of Iraq, said, “The Turkish state has been recently intensifying its attacks on North and East Syria because it knows that there is a strong and organized force there. The Turkish state is afraid of this force because it is always afraid of the strong will of the Kurdish people. The aim of the Turkish attacks is to destroy this strong will.”
Cihan Salih emphasized that the Turkish state is the enemy of the Kurdish people and does not want the Kurds to be successful and achieve their goals in any way. “The silence of countries against these attacks is concerning. They remain silent for their own interests because Turkey is a NATO member. Unfortunately, innocent people are targeted in Southern and Western Kurdistan and their rights are violated. Everyone remains silent against these rights violations. Despite the attacks, we will keep demanding our rights and freedom more. These attacks strengthen us more.”
‘We can stop attacks if we unite’
Calling on the Kurdish people in four parts of Kurdistan, Cihan Salih said, “We can stop if we unite. The conflicts among Kurdish groups should end. The Kurdish women should unite to stop the ongoing Turkish attacks. Kurdish women should unite to protect their lands and people from the enemy. The enemy is always afraid of the strong will of women because it knows that women have the power to change, because women lead the revolution.”
