Warisha Moradi starts hunger strike to protest death penalty in Iran

Warisha Moradi started a hunger strike against the death penalty in Iran on Thursday.

News Center-Warisha Moradi, a women’s rights defender and member of the East Kurdistan Free Women Society (KJAR) imprisoned in Evin prison, started a hunger strike on the World Day against the Death Penalty, annually observed on October 10, to protest the death penalty in Iran.

 On August 1, 2023, Warisha Moradi was arrested by Iranian security forces in Sanandaj. After two weeks in detention, she was transferred to Ward 209 of Evin Prison. She faces charges of “armed rebellion against the state.”
