UNICEF: Hundreds of Children Killed in Gaza and 800,000 Children Still Displaced

UNICEF reported over 340 children killed in Gaza despite the truce, while about 800,000 displaced children face tragic winter conditions amid disrupted basic services.

NEWS CENTER_Children in the Gaza Strip face catastrophic repercussions due to the ongoing war, ranging from acute deprivation of food and medical care, to deep psychological trauma resulting from loss and repeated displacement, which threaten to undermine their daily reality and eliminate their educational and physical future.

The spokesperson for the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) revealed the killing of more than 340 children and the injury of hundreds of others in the Gaza Strip in Palestine as a result of Israeli attacks since the entry into force of the ceasefire declaration.

He explained that the Israeli attacks during the past two weeks killed five children despite the truce being in effect, while at least 33 children were seriously injured, noting that two other children lost their lives as a result of previous injuries.

The UN official said that about 800,000 children in Gaza are still displaced, most of them living in tents or buildings that were bombed and pose a danger to their safety, confirming that nearly 60,000 children in the Strip are estimated to have lost one or both parents.

More than 560,000 children had returned to education in various educational institutions since the declaration of the ceasefire in October 2025, according to the UN official, who confirmed that many basic services in Gaza are still out of service.

He drew attention to the enormity of the humanitarian needs in the devastated Strip, at a time when available funding is below the required level.
