News Center- We Will Stop Femicide Platform (Kadın Cinayetlerini Durduracağız Platformu-KCDP) has released its August report on femicide by compiling the news from local and national newspapers, news websites and news agencies.
“Since 2010, we, as the platform, have released reports on femicide. However, the ministries distort the facts by claiming that our reports are prepared incorrectly instead of reporting how many women were killed, why, how and by whom,” emphasized the August 2023 report of the KCDP.
 The report also emphasized that the duty of the state is to find concrete solutions in order to stop femicide. “We will keep struggling for the mobilization of all relevant ministries and mechanisms to fulfill their duty,” the report said.
29 women were killed by men and 21 more died under suspicious circumstances in August, according to the report. “Eight of 29 women were killed by men on the excuse that they had asked for a divorce, refused marriage or dating proposals and made decisions about their lives. One of them was killed because taking care of her was difficult, one because of fighting over remote control, one because of hatred. The excuses of men for killing 18 women were not determined,” the report said.

 ‘59% of women were killed by their husbands’

17 of 29 women were killed by their husbands, four by their partners, three by their ex-husbands, three by their relatives, one by ex-partner, the relationship with the man who killed a woman could not be determined, the report said. In August 2023, 59% of women were killed by their husbands.

Most women were killed at their home

The report also includes the places where 29 women were killed. “20 of 29 women were killed at their home, two at their workplaces, one in a car, one in a construction area. The place where one woman was killed has not been determined. In August, 69% of women were killed at their home. Men killed 14 women with firearms, 10 with sharp objects. Men beat two women to death and killed two women by throwing them from high places and one by drowning. In August, men killed 48% of women with firearms.”
