In Turkey, men killed at least 26 women, 19 more died under suspicious circumstances in September, according to the report released by the We Will Stop Femicide Platform.

Men killed at least 26 women, 19 more died under suspicious circumstances in September, according to the report. Underling that the struggle to stop femicide in Turkey has continued for 12 years, the report said, “We, as the platform, have been releasing monthly reports on femicide cases since 2010.”
“The Ministry of the Interior distorts the facts”
“Instead of announcing how many women were killed, why, how and by whom, the Ministry of Interior distorts the facts by claiming that our platform releases incorrect figures. The duty of the state is to announce the femicide cases and suspicious deaths of women and to implement concrete solutions to stop femicides. We will keep struggling to push all relevant ministries and mechanisms to fulfill their duty,” the report reads.
“26 women were killed in September”
“26 women were killed, 19 more died under suspicious circumstances in September. While the excuses of men for killing 16 women were not determined, 14 women were killed by men on the excuse that they asked for a divorce, refused marriage, or dating proposal, two women were killed for financial reasons,” the platform said in the report.
Women were killed by whom?
According to the report, 16 women were killed by their husbands, two by their ex-husbands, two by their partners, one by her ex-partner, three by their relatives, one by her son. 62% of 26 women were killed by their husbands in September.
Giving information about the places where 26 women were killed, the report said, “15 of 26 women were killed at their homes, five on the streets, one in a car, one in a field, one near a river. The places where two women were killed were not determined.”
How were women killed?
The report also included the details on how women were killed by men. “In September, men killed 13 women with firearms, seven with sharp objects, one in a car accident; four women were battered to death. How a woman was killed was not determined.”
