Istanbul- We Will Stop Femicide Platform (KCDP) has released its March report on femicide by compiling the news from local and national newspapers, news websites and news agencies. At least 23 women were killed by men, 19 more died under suspicious circumstances in March 2023, the report said.

Eight women were killed by men on the excuse that they asked for a divorce, refused marriage, or dating proposal, two women were killed on the excuse of financial reasons, one was killed because she was sick, the excuses of men for killing 12 women were not determined, according to the report.

Nine women were killed by their husbands

In March, nine women were killed by their husbands, four by their boyfriends, two by their ex-boyfriends, two by men they knew, one by male relative, one by ex-husband; in March, 39% women were killed by their husbands, the report said.

Most women were killed at home

The report also listed where 23 women were killed. According to the report, 16 women were killed at their home, four on the streets, one in a hotel, one at the workplace and one in a forest. In March, 70% of women were killed at their home.

The report also recalled the closure case against the platform, saying, “We expect all women and LGBTIQ+ to be at the Çağlayan Courthouse on April 5, the first hearing of the closure case against our platform.”

The platform also shared the stories of 23 women in the report.
