‘The cry of the mother for justice must be heard’

The Şenyaşar family has been holding a sit-in protest in front of the Urfa Courthouse demanding justice for 686 days.

Riha - The sit-in protest held in front of the Urfa Courthouse by Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were murdered in the attack carried out by the relatives and bodyguards of AKP Urfa MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız in the Suruç (Kurdish: Pirsûs) district of Urfa province on June 14, 2018, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar continues on its 686th day.

Emine Şenyaşar and her son Ferit Şenyaşar came in front of the Urfa Courthouse in the morning to demand justice again.

‘Unjust practices must end’

Making a speech in front of the courthouse, Ferit Şenyaşar stated that they have been subjected to unjust practices for four years and added, “In this country, there is a Ministry of Justice. We are addressing this Ministry of Justice; these unjust practices are known by the people not only of Urfa but also across Turkey. The orders of the superiors are recognized, not the existing laws. The inspectors of the Council of Judges and Prosecutors (Hakimler ve Savcılar Kurulu-HSK) must come here now to document injustice here. The cry of the mother, whose husband and two sons were killed and whose son has been held in prison, for justice must be heard. We demand the end of these unjust practices.”
